Matthew 16:24-26
24 Then Jesus said to his disciples, “Whoever wants to be my disciple must deny themselves and take up their cross and follow me. 25 For whoever wants to save their life[a] will lose it, but whoever loses their life for me will find it. 26 What good will it be for someone to gain the whole world, yet forfeit their soul? Are Christians still able to deny themselves, their desire to be popular, to blend in, to nto be criticized, to be seen as modern, tolerant? Are they ashamed of the gospel, the fundamental truth, are they ashamed to conserve the faith and stand up for ancient truth?
Worldwide Christians have flirted with tolerance of evil just to avoid being called conservative.
It is with great sadness that we are witnessing terror attacks, sexual assaults of women and children, and violence against innocent people in Europe. People who came as refugees and received a warm and generous welcome seem to hate these Christian nations and act not with gratefulness but with the demeanour of new bosses. Christianity is being replaced by tolerance of the intolerable. Child marriages and honour killings are being excused with cultural differences. The European people are confused. Why aren’t their leaders standing up for them and protecting them like they are supposed to? When a nation’s leaders deny the Lord Jesus in order to appease business partners and other agendas, it will have spiritual repercussions. When Christians don’t deny themselves anymore for the sake of the cross, they might lose their very soul.
